S.E.M.CO SARI | SEMA Racking Inspections
After installing our Racking Systems, S.E.M.CO provides all our customers the option to schedule an annual SEMA Racking inspection as part of our continuous support services. These inspections are conducted by our in-house trained SARI’s (SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors) on behalf of our customers. Racking inspections hold significant importance for various reasons, particularly in industrial warehouse and yard settings. Maintaining general health and safety on site brings peace of mind to both the customers and inspectors.
The HSE’s current document HSG76 Health and safety guidance (warehousing and storage) reccomends that expert inspections are undertaken as below:
- 646: Technically competent personnel should carry out inspections at intervals of no more than 12 months. A written report should be submitted to the PRRS (Person Responsible for Racking Safety) with observations and proposals for any required action.
- 647: Technically competent personnel might be a trained specialist within the orgainsation, a specialist of your racking supplier and or an independent qualified racking inspector.
Annual SEMA Racking Inspections
Our SARI’s meet the HSE’s requirements for a competent individual to perform annual racking inspections. Our team utilises the SEMA traffic light reporting system categorising what is found to be Green, Amber or Red Risk.
A Green classification requires surveillance where defined damage limits are not exceeded.
An Amber damage classification requires action as soon as possible (within 4 weeks).
A Red classification indicates serious damage that requires immediate offloading.
SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association) develops and influences both National and European Codes of Practice and guidelines for the design, supply and installation of all types of Storage Equipment.
Our trained inspectors have therefore gained a wealth of experience and are able to give customers expert advice when it comes to Rack Safety.
